It's Monday! What Are You Reading? 2/23

It's Monday! What Are You Reading? --From Picture Books to YA is a weekly meme started by Jen at Teach Mentor Texts and Kellee at Unleashing Readers. This is a chance for bloggers to recap their week of reading and share their plans for the next reading adventures they will take. Books I Finished This Week:

I did not finish any books because I am reading too many at once.

Books I am Currently Reading:

I am listening to Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge. I really like the story and I am curious about how it will turn out in the end. I love how imaginative this retelling of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast is.  I am also reading Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman, which is every bit as fascinating and intriguing as Seraphina. Another amazing story world that I am visiting is Laini Taylor's world from the Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy. I am reading Dreams of Gods and Monsters and as much as I love this book, I am missing the audiobook narration. I listened to the first two books and loved the narrator. I also have a couple of professional books that I have been reading.

What's Next?

I have The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up on my shelf and it is due back to the library soon so I will probably pick that one up in the next day or so. I also just got The Marshmallow Test from the library and it sounds really interesting. Other than that, I don't know. It will depend on whether I make it through the books I have already started.

What are you reading this week? Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for me? I would love to hear from you in the comments!

  1. I can relate to reading so many books that I can't finish any. Been there, done that! All of those sound good. I'm in the middle of a massive series, so most other reading is slow going while I finish the last of the 19 books in The Children of the Lion series.

  2. I am right there with you with the in-the-middle-of-too-many-books-so-I-can't-finish-any department! I just get so excited to start books! ag!

  3. I ended up listening to the whole Daughter of Smoke & Bone series on audio--just loved the narrator and the different voices she did for the characters. I'm super excited about Rachel Hartman's new novel, though I want to reread Seraphina (probably on audio--after I finish my current two audios) before I read it. I know I loved Seraphina, but I don't remember the details because I read it in one great big gulp! I know what you mean about reading too many books to get anything finished. I forced myself to sit down yesterday and finish three books so I'd have something to post about today! Of course, I'm still in the middle of about 20 more books. Every so often, I think about how nice it must be to read one book at a time!

  4. I've found that reading to many books at a time is a curse. I never feel like I can truly get into any of them. I usually limit my reading to one fiction, one nonfiction, and one audiobook at a time. On top of feeling like I can actually appreciate the books, I feel like I accomplish something every week!

  5. I still need to read Seraphina, a book I'd love to get to. Also, Daughter of Smoke & bone is traveling around the classroom-many of the older girls like it. You "are" reading a lot, Andrea. Sometimes I get caught like that & then need to just say-finish! Good luck!

  6. The Marshmallow Test? What a delightful title! I hand't heard of it. I am the same as you. I always have so many books going that some weeks, I finish six, and some weeks, there are none to tell about! I hope you have a fruitful week!
